New Years in Lancaster

Lancaster loves to celebrate the holidays. After a festive and twinkly-light filled Christmas, the city revamps for a new years eve you’ll never forget. There’s much more to do this year than sit at home and watch the ball drop. Today, we’ll give you a virtual tour of celebrating new years in Lancaster so that you can make the most of your long weekend. 

Live Music at Longwood Gardens

On Friday, December 31, Longwood Gardens is celebrating the new year with live musicians. From organ music in the Ballroom to polka tunes in the East Conservatory Plaza, the gardens will be bursting with song. This year, the live music will begin at 4:00, and the gardens will stay open until 11:00 pm.

New Years Eve Dinner

Many of Lancaster’s top restaurants are open and serving from a special menu this New Years Eve. Spots like The Belvedere Inn, C’est La Vie, and Cork & Cap are ringing in the New Year with a festive menu. 

Gather with friends, family, and loved ones around the dinner table to cherrish the closing of this year and the start of a new one. Dance Downtown

This year, Lancaster city is inviting locals and visitors to celebrate the coming new year together. Three roaming DJs will move throughout the city from 6:00-8:00 with occasional stops for quick dance parties. 

In the 6th and 9th Wards, the music show will pull over at Buchanan Park, Reservoir Park, and Sixth Ward Park. Next, in the 7th Ward, the DJs will make stops at Washington Elementary and King Elementary. Ending the night in the 8th Ward, the DJs will pull over at Lafayette Elementary, 420 Pearl Street, and Rodney Park. 

Bundle Up for Fireworks

The night will also feature two firework displays within Lancaster city. At 9:00 p.m., the city will launch two different fireworks shows: one behind Hazel Jackson Middle School, and another on Thomas Armstrong Boulevard, near the Clipper Magazine Stadium. 

Cozy up in a coat and scarf, bring picnic blankets and camping chairs, pour a thermos of hot cocoa, and watch the show. 

Cheer in the New Year

Lancaster is full of great breweries, rooftop bars, cocktail lounges, and pubs, but five spots are at the top of local’s list. The Exchange, The Horse Inn, The Pressroom, Armorette, and Luca are the local’s favorite places for evening drinks.
